Hi, stumbled on this site a few days ago. Trained as a morse intercept op at Keesler, then to 6910th RGM in Sembach Germany in 1958, our hill was in Grunstadt. Then to Tuslog Det 3-1, 6933rd RGM, Trabzon, Turkey 1959, to Kelly HQ SS 1960, then to Goodfellow, 6940th for AZK292x RFP tech school 1960, then to Alaska, 1961 to 1964, 6981st RGM, later 6981st Security Group. Got out March 27, 1964, 2 hours before the Great Alaskan Earthquake. I was discharged in Anchorage per my request. Enjoyed my tremendous adventureous 7 years in the USAFSS and all the assignments and travels. Much memory of the earthquake and aftermat. :!cool:

Greetings and Merry Christmas to all USAFSS Vets. I am most likely among the oldest of the recon flyers having performed my duties in RB29 #290 out of Yokota in '56 and '57. Those were the good old days.

This is a majestic piece of work you have presented to us with the five volumes. Excellent Larry and proud to know you and have had the opportunity to work with you both in the Air Force and in our civilian efforts. See you at FLAG in March 2013.

6911th RGM 56-60, Comm Center, Crypto. Some of the best years of my life (with the exception of one S/Sgt.) Met and married my wife there 56 years ago ... Three children, plenty of grand and great-grand children. We serve our Lord with gladness!

I maintained the 6911th RGM website until November of this year. SA - LUTE ! ! everyone who served in USAFSS ! !

:)

Larry,

Thanks for your great histories of USAFSS. I was a 30452 radio maintenance puke who delighted in finding himself embedded in an intel organization. 6913th at Bremerhaven Jul-Dec 1959. Forced transfer to 6937th at Peshawar from Dec 59 to Sep 60. Interesting times there after Powers shootdown. (He took off from the Peshawar airport). 6981st at Elmendorf from Nov 1960 till Sep 1962 with TDYs to Northeast Cape and the AFSSO at Eielson. After discharge, spent 4 yrs in CIA including a tour in Taiwan with their U-2 project. Marriage to "dreaded" foreign national terminated that happy experience.
